We Need a Little Jesus in our Christmas Music!

Peaceable animals and child

Each year most everyone enjoys getting into a little Christmas spirit somehow. But Jesus is becoming more and more conspicuously absent in the festive food, decor, and music celebrating Christmas in modern culture. Rather than lamenting the problem with bumper stickers reminding that Jesus is the reason for the season, I recommend we do something more festive. Let’s face it, nobody is truly inspired to love Jesus or anyone else in a more Christmas-y way by reading a catchy manger magnet.

How about this? Let’s find a way to put Jesus into the jolly Christmas music that we hum from late November through December. I’ve rewritten two songs myself. See if you can come up with more!

My first song offers fresh and fun lyrics to the familiar “Deck the Halls” tune. It joyfully sings of Baby Jesus as the lamb of God. Click on the title to download my Ba-La-Lamb of God Song if you’d like.

I even took on the all time holiday classic, “Jingle Bells”. My new version enables us to have all the fun of Jingle Bells while singing that Jesus came to show us how to love each other… whether we’re a lion, lamb or cow. (Heh!) Download it with a click on the title: Jesus Came .

And as a special treat… enjoy this You-tube remake of Mary Had a Little Lamb sung by Sharon Moore-Caldwell M.D. as a beautiful Christmas song honoring the miracle of Christ’s birth and his holy Blessed Mother. (Be sure to listen past the little kid intro…)

As we hang our decor, trim our trees, shop for gifts, and bake our cookies…may the songs in our hearts joyfully include Jesus at Christmas time!
