Dear Little Bunny,
After I surprised Iris with the picnic, she asked, “Who ARE you child?”
I replied, “ Just a little bunny. My friends call me Ben.”
With great ceremony she said, “I shall call you Benjamin. You are a good boy. You are very brave to do a kind thing for grouchy old Iris Bunny.”
I smiled at her and said, “You’re not so bad.”
Then it happened. She smiled…a warm and wonderful smile that I’ll never forget.
I asked her, “Have you ever been an Easter Bunny?
“She said, “Who, me? How could I ever be an Easter Bunny? I can barely hop.”
“Well,” I said, “ l just saw so much JOY! in your eyes just now, I thought you were an Easter Bunny!”
“Don’t I need Jesus’ JOY! for that? She asked.
I said, “Yes”, that was how it worked.
She leaned over and whispered to me, “Then perhaps I am one just for today…because you have truly shown the love of Jesus to me!”
I said, “WOW!!”
We shared the feast. My sister and brothers even got enough courage to come and say “Hi!” and when she was so nice to them, they joined us too. We told stories and some of them were so funny that she literally flopped over on her back laughing.
We gasped, (We waited for her to say something harsh) and then she laughed again and said, “Everybody sit on my floppy paw and tip me back up again!” We were falling all over each other and with breathless laughter we finally got her back up.
It was time to go. It was a good day. Iris leaned over and gave me a little kiss on the cheek. Now I was the one with the big smile.
I had gone to be nice to grouchy old Iris, and I had made a dear friend. A4UJesus!
You can find the courage to befriend someone like Iris too. You’ll be surprised how much of Jesus’ JOY you receive when you give it to someone who is a little “difficult”. It’s just another wonderful part of being…an Easter Bunny!
Tomorrow is your big day!
Get ready Little Bunny!
I can’t wait to hear your story of your first day as a REAL Easter Bunny!
The Risen Jesus will be your JOY!
Wishing you LOVE by the basket!
